What is a blog? A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging"
and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Think of it as an on-line journal.
Technology has a powerful influence on our students. We have found that using a “blog” format to encourage students
to participate in literature discussion is a motivating force for the reluctant reader as well as the student who is timid
to “speak up” during book discussion times. Rarely do we find students unprepared for their book club or literature
circle time.
After making sure they have read their assignment and listened to their group discussion, the students are given the teacher
question to answer on the computer. Just getting to go to the computer is a treat and fills our reading time with excitement.
They not only answer the teacher’s question, they can also respond and comment on each other’s comments.
